How to Combine Multiple Images into a Single PDF

When submitting expense receipts, identification documents, or design portfolios, you are often asked to provide a single combined PDF document rather than multiple scattered JPG or PNG image files. This guide details how to merge your images into a clean PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro, macOS Preview, or a lightweight web utility.

Method 1: Using Adobe Acrobat Pro

Adobe Acrobat Pro features a powerful "Combine Files" tool to import and compile multiple images into a single high-quality document:

  1. Open Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  2. Select the Combine Files tool from the Tools dashboard.
  3. Click **Add Files** or drag and drop your images (supporting common formats such as JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP) directly into the combine workspace.
  4. In the visual thumbnail grid, drag and drop the image cards to set the desired page order.
  5. Once arranged, click the Combine button in the upper right. Acrobat will assemble the images sequentially.
  6. Navigate to **File** > **Save As** to save your combined PDF file to your hard drive.

Method 2: Using macOS Built-in Preview Application

If you are using macOS, you can quickly convert and merge images without installing third-party apps by using the system Preview tool:

  1. Select your set of images in Finder.
  2. Right-click and select **Open With** > Preview.
  3. Ensure the sidebar thumbnails are visible (toggle using the top **View** menu if necessary), and drag them to re-arrange the pages.
  4. Select all thumbnail items inside the sidebar list by pressing Cmd + A.
  5. Go to **File** in the top menu and select "Print...".
  6. In the bottom-left corner of the Print configuration pane, locate the **PDF** drop-down menu and select "Save as PDF".
  7. Enter a filename and select a location, then click Save to execute.

Alternative Option: Use UniPagePDF Image-to-PDF Web Tool

For Windows users without Acrobat or anyone frustrated by Microsoft Word compressing image resolution and forcing excessive white margins, UniPagePDF provides a lightweight, browser-based alternative. Files are processed locally in your browser sandbox, keeping your documents confidential:

  1. Drag and drop your image collection (JPG/PNG) directly into the UniPagePDF tool area.
  2. Arrange, reorder, or rotate the images in the visual browser editor.
  3. Choose your sizing preferences (e.g. keeping the images at their native resolutions, or boxing them into standard A4 outlines).
  4. Click export to merge the files into a single high-fidelity PDF, processed locally on your computer.
